Elmer, you mean tell the person that he entered a bad word and do not post that comment? That will not work well, they will just type characters before they can post some bad word formatted differently and that feature is only helping them to do that.

Instead of replacing the bad_words, is there a way to show a validation error instead? It's still pretty ***ing obvious when someone is being abusive.

Ja, as you already seen there is a filter of bad words, you can chose the bad words to be filtered.
