For the ratings you do not need to modify the path to .dat file, it works automatically, but if for some personal reasons you need ot modify that then sure it needs some skills to modify the source file, but modifying that is not needed. To translate it to another language you need to edit around 4-5 locations and replace a text, I think it would be a drawback to add another file to the rating system (.xml or something) that would contain the language texts; because only a small percent of users will need to translate it. To change the stars clips you just open the library and you have 3 clips (gray, blue and yellow stars) , you draw something else instead of these or you import an image in those clips and you are done.
Let me know if you need a modified code to change that "s" in vote/votes when there is only one vote. I can send it to you a bit later if you need that.

Hai adrian, I bought the comments script and it works out of the box. Today I bought the rating script but I was a little bit dissapointed. I think it is easy fot you to extend this sript to make it some more flexible. First a path setting to the .dat file. I know how to do that but it need php skills. Second. the translation. On severall places in the fla I have to make changes for another language. I think it it would be easy to set that in the php file or an external xml. I see there are stars and rounds but no documentation on how to change this. Also the color setting isn't quite easy to do. Third. If there is only one vote the default text should be 1 vote if there are more then use votes instead of vote. I hope you will extend this product a little bit more. Thanks and hope to hear from you.
